Tala’s Story
Honoring Tala’s life through action and advocacy
Tala Smith was 21 years old—a daughter, a friend, and a young woman with a future ahead of her. Her life was lost to domestic violence, leaving her family to face the unimaginable.
Tala’s Closet was created in her honor, transforming loss into action and providing essential support for survivors as they begin again.
private appointments
A quieter, more personal way to access support
We understand that not everyone feels comfortable visiting during open hours. Private shopping appointments are available for survivors who would prefer a quieter, more personal experience.
This option is for anyone who:
• needs additional privacy
• has scheduling conflicts during regular hours
• prefers a one-on-one experience
During your visit, you can expect:
• a safe, welcoming environment
• the ability to shop at your own pace
• no requirement to share your story
• completely free access to all available items
Appointments are available Tuesdays & Thursdays 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
To schedule a private shopping appointment, use our contact form or email [email protected] with your preferred date and time. A member of our team will follow up to confirm your appointment.
Our Locations
Serving survivors across multiple communities
Tala’s Closet operates in two locations, allowing us to serve survivors across multiple communities.
Our Buckeye Lake, Ohio location partners with a local food pantry to reach individuals and families in need, while our Grand Rapids, Michigan location supports survivors throughout West Michigan.
No matter the location, our goal remains the same: to create a safe, welcoming space where survivors can access what they need to begin again.
As Tala’s Closet continues to grow, we’re working to expand into additional communities through local partnerships that help bring these resources to more people who need them.
